About us & our Boutique Guesthouse in Buxton
Hi we’re Laura, Joe & little Rudy… and we’re part of the family behind UpBuxton.
After months of hard work, sleepless nights, and a whole lot of love, we’re so excited to finally introduce ourselves. For the past 5 months we’ve been carefully renovating our families beautiful building in the heart of Buxton, transforming it into UpBuxton – home of UpStairs a boutique, quirky and luxurious place to stay. Every room has been designed to create a cosy, stylish escape, all just a short stroll from Buxton’s wonderful shops, restaurants, cafes and attractions.
Hospitality has always been at the heart of what we do. Between us, Josef and I have spent years working in Michelin- starred restaurants, working aboard super yachts and in some of the UK’s finest hotels and restaurants. Those experiences have shaped everything we’re creating, and we’re so excited to bring that passion, attention to detail and genuine hospitality back to our own business.
More than anything, this is a dream that’s become a family project. We wanted to create something that feels welcoming, memorable and a little different (no beige or greys over here). Somewhere we’d love to stay ourselves. But this is only the beginning….
In mid 2027 we’ll also be opening UpMarket – a delicatessen by day transforming into a relaxed wine bar with small plates in the evenings – alongside UpInteriors, where you’ll be able to shop for French antique, boutique furniture and beautiful interiors that have inspired our guest rooms.
Originally we hoped to open these a little sooner, but we’re also incredibly excited to be welcoming another little member to our family, so we’ve decided to take our time and make sure everything opens exactly as we’ve imagined it.
We’re so grateful to everyone that’s supported us so far, and a special shoutout to everyone that’s helped us with the renovation along the way, we wouldn’t be here without you all.
We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors very soon. Thank you for following our journey – we’re only just getting started.

Been exploring the hills? Take a seat on our bench, kick off those muddy boots, and make yourself at home.
Derbyshire weather doing its thing? We’ve got umbrellas ready to borrow whenever you need them.
And because four-legged guests deserve a warm welcome too, we’ve made sure they’re looked after with complimentary treats, fresh water, and their very own cosy dog bed waiting by the door.
It’s the little touches that turn a stay into an experience, and we hope from the moment you walk through our front door, you’ll feel right at home.
